When Someone’s Really Listening

The biggest gift spiritual direction offers is the listening presence of another, be it individual or group spiritual direction, face-to-face or virtual.

This “Spiritual Practice for the Day” from spiritualityandpractice.com (one of my all-time favorite spiritual resources) helps us understand why:

Many years ago, I read about a study in which people from different walks of life were asked: What is the most profound way you feel loved? The number one response was: “When someone’s really listening.”

Give someone your undivided attention.

Can you think of someone for whom your undivided attention would be welcome today?
